Canon should respond soon

Sony just has its new FF body A900 under USD2950.00 with 24.6MP. Which is cheaper than Nikon D700.

So Canon should respond NOW. I mean NOW.

Megapixels aren't everything - but that IS a compelling camera that definitely should force Canon's hand on price and resolution offerings...

Canon will respond when Canon responds.

Canon doesn't care about anything but money (given). Marketing is sometimes about delayed gratification, thus the teaser. It's not about making people happy all the time, but instead getting them interested.

Sony at 24 megapixels, Nikon has pro AF systems in lower priced bodies, etc etc...no response except the teaser, and yet the teaser still draws lots of attention, even though it has no substance. It's extremely likely that Canon's updates will not have a pro AF system or a 24 megapixel sensor, and to add sensor IS would be no evolution whatsoever because the technology is already done by Sony. Movie mode is also included in a Nikon model.

What's left?

Pixel binning, comparable D3-like ISO6400 at 21 megapixels?.....Honest​ly, what can they do? It simply isn't going to be spectacular because it can't be; the competition is too stiff.

Ahhh...but what if the body/frame was made using "Unobtanium"...that not only was stronger than steel, lighter than Carbon Fiber, but takes any light source and charges the battery for you while you're shooting!

Perhaps they will add a cub holder? that would be 'cool'.

... or... not..

I’m guessing that either a new 1D or the new 5D will be introduced and support 1080 HD.

i prefer more iso value than IS on the camera.

not all the time you can take pictures under 1/60...

and remember more MPX don't make a better picture.
Canon with the 50D have small raw, 1 and small raw 2, so i stay with canon

just imagen the size of 24 mpx on raw file... more compact flash, more hard drive... no txs

I would not worry about the A900. You should check out the sample pictures from dpreview

The sample photos are just that samples it might have been a rogue camera that was not checked at the end of the line, and firmware updates to tweek settings later might be all it needs. I for one will be checking it out for in camera Is against lens Is and will go from there..

What's left?

Cell phone cameras. That's what this whole 'destined evolution' thing is about: DSLRs evolving into cell phones, and the new lens will be a tiny plastic thing. Canon wisely realized they can never match the other companies and have boldly struck out in a new direction! Wheee! I welcome our new cell phone camera overlords!

will the camera phone have an EF mount? id like to attach my 70-200 for long range cellphone calls.

Uhhh you can't wait a couple weeks until Photokina? I'm pretty sure they have something else in store besides the 50D, or they wouldn't have released the 50D so early.

i think you guys are reading too much into their advertising...any improvement on the original 5D is an evolution, no?
