Rolled Hay...thoughts?

I've seen similar shots before, so I know I'm not breaking new ground, but I've always been of fan of this kind of shot. Only complaint is that I couldn't get closer.

In my mind, It's too wide, I should have gotten up much closer to the bales, but I wanted to know what ya'll thought?

It has a nice purity to it. Most shots I see of this subject are processed to look a lot different. Refreshing, really.

I don't think it's 'too wide'. But if you'd like an opinion, I think cropping around half of the foreground out gives it a better feel.

Thanks for the comments. I am still playing around with the raws so I will come up with a couple of edits and throw those up as well.

Looks great. Has a feel of vast openness. Maybe a slight panaramic "crop" to reduce a little of the sky and foreground grass to concentrate on the hay?

A simple version of what I meant.....(Also reduced the blue hue in the mountains...) Did this steal from the vast open look now?

I agree with the refreshing feel that one person mentioned, and was also thinking something panorama-ish, cropping a bit of the sky mainly. Nicely done. I like it.

I also don't think the shot looks "too wide" but it does need something in the foreground...one of those rolls of hay closer to the camera position would have been ideal. I also like the "unprocessed look" but your colors look a tich off to me...I'd take a really close look at those yellows and maybe desaturate them just a tad.

For me, the "unmowed hay" in the foreground accomplished that goal. It at least gave it some kind of foreground context.

They are a bit greeny/yellowy. But it still looks good.
How you crop is best left to how you want it to look. However, I do not particularly care for that crop myself. I would pull the foreground out, rather then balance the top/bottom.

The color in the reworked image is much better. Initially, I thought that maybe the grass had been baled green or perhaps was peanut hay due to the green color.
