Every time you make that thing light up, a little light goes on at Canon HQ and while that light stays on they won't swap the DP button for a MLU button.

I hope you're happy. ;)

What the heck, they put a light there but they don't give us an AF-assist light on the body for when we are using PocketWizards and need some help getting AF? GRRR!

After connecting it to the PC, turn camera on, then preview an image. According to the manual for my 40D you have to be in preview mode and the blue light comes on. Then some geek at Canon says "see a**hole I told you people will use it".

*in Arnie accent*

'I'm a cybernetic organism...'

Often I'm left wondering how many of us actually use this Direct Print button. Canon sure is proud of it, but geez, it's wasted space for most users.

fWord,
I really don't mind it being there, as maybe someone uses it? ??? I just wish it could be custom changed to do something else also.

That's precisely what some others have been pining for. Maybe we'd see a change with the new 5D? Most likely though, the new 5D will have two of these buttons to give you the evil eye if you choose not to use it.

I dont know if its the same on the 5D, but on the 40D it lights up once the camera is plugged into the computer and you start the EOS utility
