Hello everyone.

Took this photo of a Iceland Gull yesterday at the bridge in Cocagne, Kent County, New Brunswick, Canada. The lighting was very poor with thick fog but I tought I would post it anyway. A few come down this way from the Great White North every winter.

Kent County, New Brunswick, CANADA
has to be one of the world's best kept secret. It is bordered by the sea to the east and is made up of small villages, farms, forest, brooks and rivers. I have lived here all my life and
would recommend it to anyone.

Maz,
I bet a little photoshop work would brighten this up nicely.

In PS CS there's a shadow/highlight tool that might help.

Thank's MegaTrixel. I have brightened the photo up a bit. It's like they say...You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. I will just have to go out and get a better shot of this Iceland Gull before he leaves again for the far north.

Thanks,

Actually, the gray, "foggy" look gives me the feeling that it is very cold and lonely in this scene. I think that effect is an important part of the image.

I agree with Tom, I think this photo has some great atmosphere. I like it.

Also agreed. I'd make an attempt at brightening it using levels, but be careful as you could ruin the cold feeling this photo exudes. I'd leave the BG as is and try just brightening the bird a tick or two.

Thank you TomW, Orogeny and RFMSports for your comments. As a side note I went back to the bridge where this Iceland Gull hangs out and got another picture before he took off. The background was not the best but the lighting a bit better. He should be around for a while and I might get a real good picture of him for my files.
