Is it scary?

Not as scary as the clown. I tried to get it to look like an avatar, and it didn't work. Sorry. I'll try something else later.

I haven't enjoyed my 100 macro as a portrait lens yet Cat, do you use yours at all?

I took it with me, but didn't use it. It is just so slow at focusing.

No, we had a high of 92 here today. It's a bit sticky now and none of our fans are working. In fact nobody on the entire block has fans. Or anything else... The power has been out for about an hour.

I'm using my laptop and hitch-hiking on the unsecured wireless of someone across the street (where the power is still on.) It's a very weak signal so I don't know how long I'll be on.

Why did the power go out?

Speaking of laptops, mine was delivered this afternoon. Woohoo! I'll pick it up in the morning before I head to Disneyland.

Yes, they pay five times what we do,

Yeah, but still.... $20k is, what, the annual income of a minimum wage full time job?

Cool! So... did you return the one you killed, and it's fixed? Or did you have to buy a new one? (sorry, I don't remember)

OH! And you all will be SO proud of me.
With the new modem came a new installation CD.
With that came instructions on how to lock my wireless. *wink*

Yep. My neighbors are going to have to buy their own from now on.

I killed a desktop, not a laptop. I'm still working on resuscitating that one. Well... Mostly I'm just letting it sit there while I try to think of how to attack it next. I do have an idea I may try later this week, though. Once I can figure out how to make it update the driver for the new LCD monitor I'll be back in business and can load up all the software on it again. That's the only stumbling block I have stopping me at the moment.

But, I bought a new laptop also. I figured as long as I'm in the process of replacing a five year old desktop, maybe I should replace the laptop that's even a month older. I can't do a whole lot with the laptop just yet, though. I ordered it with only 1Gb of RAM. I ordered 4Gb of RAM for it from crucial.com, but that hasn't arrived yet. So, for now I can install the software I need. I just won't be able to use much of it for a few more days.

Not around here, we really get ripped off for new car prices compared to the US.

That is what it is about here too, but they both have real good jobs, and fall well above the minimum wage bracket. They purposely chose the Mountain Lakes area because of the schools and services.

Ok... I have to share this. I don't know why.

I'm on a weird diet thing. Been doing it for almost a week, and it's working wonders.

Anywho... it's a pretty strict menu of certain mixtures of proteins and carbs. I get to eat 4 meals a day (YAY!) but I have to follow a pretty strict menu. It works for me.

Today was an all protein day. Except for at one meal (lunch) I could have some carbs added in... Prunes.
I was so excited to have fruit with all my protein, that I may have overdone it on the prunes.

I don't think I'll ever do that again.

Yay! :D Since my new laptop has wifi built-in (I bought a card for my old laptop but never got it to work), it's about time I finally install my router. I bought the thing two years ago, but still haven't plugged it in...

I bought a router for my mom's house, and it doesn't work there. So I have one that I've never used too.

misspix wrote in post #6376155 (external link)
What happened to your power?

I don't know for sure, but what I suspect happened since this seems to be confined to only those who are fed by this one set of lines is that a circuit breaker or something along that line tripped on one of the pole-mounted transformers. I've seen this happen before. The power lines here come down the alley and the houses on either side of the alley are out. The houses directly across the street have power.

It tried to come back on a couple of minutes ago, so that shows they're working on it.
