Here you go, this is the shot I found.

That's a much better look at them than my pictures. Looks like the guy who took that shot was on the Mountaineer's Route. I haven't taken that route to the top of Whitney, but I'd like to sometime. It's much steeper than the trail. You get the same elevation gain in about half the distance.

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

It's hard to get a good shot of them that shows how steep it really is because the terrain all looks the same. You can't really see the depth. I just loaded up my Topo software and set a couple waypoints to see the total elevation gain. At the bottom of the switchbacks the elevation is approximately 11,950'. At the top it's about 13,450'. That's even steeper than I thought...

Here are a couple shots of the switchbacks from my hikes. They show them from near the top, looking back down.

I can see the trails in your shots....but your right, its hard to see the depth.

I'm hoping that once I lose a significant amount of weight, and wear knee braces, AND use those hiking poles that look like ski poles to help me on the descent, that I will be able to do it again. I WANT to do it again. I need to.

I have two pairs of trekking poles in my car. You could borrow a pair next month if you want... ;)

Honestly, I doubt I'm in good enough shape to do it right now, myself. :(

I like the second shot, Lonnie. You can see scale with the person there too.

Trekking poles! Thanks. I didn't know the correct term for them.

I have 2 sets as well. Marian and I bought them to do the Narrows hike last year.

I see at least two people in that shot. Maybe three, but I can't quite tell if that third is really a person or just a big rock.

I can see at least 2 as well. Though it's the one on the left that is really noticeable.
