Looks like a great day, Jen! cfpackerfan wrote in post #6444476 There are a couple parts of the hike where it is only a one way, along the side of the cliff, and you have to hold on to a chain that is anchored to the side of the mountain.
thomascanty wrote in post #6444652 That's not even the bad part. About a mile from the summit, the trail goes past "the windows". That's three or four spaces between the needles where there's a sheer drop-off right next to the trail. Miss your step and you'll fall about 2,000' with pretty much nothing to break your fall until you hit the ground below. GAaaaaaa!!!!! misspix wrote in post #6444864 Night Cat, I am off (in more ways than one *snicker*) too. Night all! TMI!!!! Mind you, I did wonder what that smell was when I walked in. neil_r wrote in post #6445735 The rain is not so bad, the problem yesterday was the leaves, the back wheel just did not want to stay in a straight line. Autumn (fall) and rain do not make for good riding. That does not sound like fun, Neil Mark

I don't know. We may have driven through part of the state in 1978 when we moved from Nebraska to California. But, I don't remember any stops in Utah. All I remember about that trip was a couple stops in New Mexico, the Painted Desert and Grand Canyon (both in Arizona) and spending a lot of time in the back of the van reading and ignoring everything else that was going on. cfpackerfan wrote in post #6444476 There are a couple parts of the hike where it is only a one way, along the side of the cliff, and you have to hold on to a chain that is anchored to the side of the mountain. I was just watching the videos on the site you linked to yesterday. That stretch with the chain looks like it could give just about anyone vertigo. And, to think I used to have a very crippling fear of heights. But, I had no problems walking past those windows. Now, that trail with the chain that Kit mentioned... Well, I'd have to see it in person before I decide if I'd go through there. My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

BeckyN "full of baloney" More info | Skrim17 wrote in post #6443242 I had my regular neck strap on and my camera started feeling to heavy, so I changed over and it was really great to just let it go when I had too and to take the weight off my neck. I can't wear a strap on my neck for very long at all. Usually I clip the short ends of the POTN strap together, go down through the loop and twist it around my hand. The balance is great and I barely feel any weight on my hand. 3Turner wrote in post #6443288 That's an idea....but I was unable to find any interesting details...so far. The challenge is to make them interesting. Skrim17 wrote in post #6443312 Alan I love the air shots, Deb Eli looks so much younger in those shots!! I noticed that Eli made quite a change this summer from little boy to young boy. They have a tendency to do that ever couple years or so. BearLeeAlive wrote in post #6443672 You'd be 1 1/2 months younger then my oldest daughter then, sonny boy. He is 2 years older than my son, well almost, misses the mark by 2 weeks. Woolburr wrote in post #6443703 I know...I feel like a grandfather every time I come in here... Beth and I were the oldest, I miss Beth. Then John came in a knocked the crowns off our heads with his cane. Nice full day, there Jenn. Did they sleep well Saturday night? cfpackerfan wrote in post #6444263 Come to think of it, it was Walter's Wiggles that ruined my knees to begin with, lol. cfpackerfan wrote in post #6444476 I'm hoping that once I lose a significant amount of weight, and wear knee braces, AND use those hiking poles that look like ski poles to help me on the descent, that I will be able to do it again. I WANT to do it again. I need to. It's gorgeous beyond belief, and such a feeling of accomplishment when you get to the top. (WW is only a teeny part of the hike). Good inspiration there Cat. Do you take any chronjointin/glucocimine (sp?)? I have for a couple years now and it has done wonders for my knees. CrazieCricket wrote in post #6444628 couple of visitors we had in camp this morning. Nice racks. JWright wrote in post #6445205 I'm not a grandfather, but aren't I about the oldest regular here at 62? ^^^^see what I mean? Don't know if Wool is between John and me or not. I'm 53 so Wooly Dan will have to let us know. BeckyWomen and Cats will do as they please. Men and dogs had better get used to it. ~ Robert Heinlein; Procrastinate now!
