Looks like you were around for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Nope. Unfortunately, I missed it by about two years. POTN started in 2001.

Dude, you just missed out on all the new member perks, and that new forum smell. Oh well, I'm sure you don't mind not being part of free doughnut Tuesdays.

I've had the opportunity to experience the new forum smell twice, actually. POTN has run on three different forum software packages since I started hanging out in here. But, I gotta admit. The donuts smell better... ;)

I found POTN at about the same time as Lonnie but my 3.90 posts per day pails into insignificance compared to Mr Canty's 11.13 :-)

Funny thing is, it took me a long time to get chatty. It was about four and a half years before I hit 10,000 posts. Then I made it to 20,000 in the following year.

:shock: Don't fancy that bit too much - I'm not too happy with heights...

Mark, go to the hikes link again: http://www.utah.com …ks/zion/hiking_trails.htm (external link)
Click on "Angel's Landing" and when the page comes up, click on "Photo Tour" at the top. Check out some of those spots there. (Oh and the photos show it as a busy trail... there are only a few times when it's like that. Holiday weekends, and photo tours.)

There was one time where we were at one of the one way only spots, (sides take turns going along the chain) and there was a poor woman, sitting down, clenching to the chain in hysterics. It was SO sad, there were people trying to talk her down, but she was literally paralyzed with fear.

I can hike it, but ask me to drive something like that and I'd be like that poor woman.

One other thing I noticed from watching the videos is that apparently most of the trails in Zion involve wading or swimming. At least, they sure make it look like that...

Not all of them. Just some of the more popular ones. In fact, a lot of the ones that require swimming also require permits.

Good inspiration there Cat. Do you take any chronjointin/glucocimine (sp?)? I have for a couple years now and it has done wonders for my knees.

No I don't. But I should.

Cool, camp meat!!! :p
Nice looking place Paula.

HAHAHA!!! Thats what my son was thinking too! In fact, he didn't like those guys nosing around under that canopy, (they had wrecked our neighbors Saturday morning) so, he bursts out of the tent and grabs the ax! Trys chasing them away, with no luck. He could of knocked em over the head with no problem :D I have a pic of him trying to chase one off, but not sure if I should post it. Thought some people might get the wrong idea of what he was intending:confused:

Good morning Deb!! And thank you :)

Nice racks.:D Do they have signs not to approach or feed? This time of year, those bucks can get mean....as we say here...

Bucks!

They do have signs up about not petting the deer or feeding them. But people never listen. either that or can't read. I was shocked they were letting their kids so close to them. Those bucks may seem friendly but you never know about wild animals. I got about 6 ft away to take a couple of the pics and even that made me nervous. Those guys aren't scared at all, you can walk right up to them and grab their antlers if you want. I didn't want

I'll ask if anyone's heard from Zane lately as he's been somewhat scarce. Or, to clarify, I haven't seen him much on here.

I am alive just laying low I guess, thanks for asking. Nice shots everyone. Dan I loved the fall leaf rant. D the Africa shots are always nice.

I have a lot of race pictures from the weekend as well as some nice horse shots from the barn but who knows when I will get them up.

A shot that shows the benefits of IS 200mm f/2.8 1/8 second 1600ISO hand held out the truck window while it was idling.

Zane there was a TPBM a few hours ago asking for "TPBM Looks good enough to eat", that would have been perfect :-)

Lol Neil I thought "how nice of lunch to walk into camp" when I saw Paula's camp posts. My MIL called last night and said she has a friend with 200 acres that need their deer population thinned. I may look into that and stock the freezer this year. Many parts of the states especially in the suburban areas in the east are over run with high white tailed deer populations. We see them in packs of 15 or more.
