only problem with Verizon is their customer service!!

We have an off line operation next door to one of Verizon's Customer Service Centres, they have a very slick setup and their guys seem really on the ball and motivated.

Very used to humans. get a load of this shot of the people in the next camp site. Sorry it's very blurry

CrazieCricket wrote in post #6446889 (external link)
They do have signs up about not petting the deer or feeding them. But people never listen. either that or can't read. I was shocked they were letting their kids so close to them. Those bucks may seem friendly but you never know about wild animals. I got about 6 ft away to take a couple of the pics and even that made me nervous. Those guys aren't scared at all, you can walk right up to them and grab their antlers if you want. I didn't want

It's not a good idea to feed wild animals. They become dependent on humans for their food and can starve to death if they don't get fed by people.

Plus I think the paint we use to mark our roads comes in a can marked *** CAUTION - Extreemly Slippery When Wet *** :-)

Most traffic paint has vinyl in it to increase the durability. In some places, they sprinkle glass beads into the wet paint to make it reflective at night...

I'll have tyou know I don't use a cane! :p Although, after four days at the airshow I feel like I need one today.

The view finder on the G9 is totally and completely worthless. It is really just a hole through the camera. At inside distances it does not even line up with the lens.

G-5 is like that also.

Permagrin wrote in post #6447547 (external link)
Believe it or not Cat, I don't use the viewfinder on the G9. I do the exact same thing she does. There's so much you can't do on a P&S (and since I can't move focus points or choose focus points or metering) it works pretty good to do it the way she says. :) I've never heard of the A2000 though. The new S (something) seems like a good camera for newbies too. Extra long optical zoom...everyone seems to love it. I'm a huge fan of the G series but if someone doesn't want what it has, I point them to the S series.

I find I use the LCD screen on the G-5 much more than the optical viewfinder.

I wonder how long it'll take Heather to get here...

A while... She has a ten hour shift today.

The first Monday in October has traditionally been "Founder's Day" at the zoo. In the past this has meant free admission for everyone. Well, this year the zoo decided to cancel the free admission because of how severely it impacts traffic, parking and other services in the vicinity. The change didn't get widely publicized so they pulled in everyone in her department to help cope with the anticipated difficulties that are sure to ensue.

She hasn't checked in with me yet today, so I have no idea how it's going over there...

Verizon is the only other company I'd even consider switching to if I were to leave T-Mobile. Everyone in the local hiking community swears by them. Apparently, they're the most reliable when you need to make a call in the middle of a wilderness, on a mountain top or even just in a National Park. Nobody else has comparable coverage in remote areas.

Our house is a T-Mobile dead zone. When Heather's brother lived here, he was a T-Mobile subscriber and he had to go out into the front yard to talk on his phone. Heather and I have Verizon and we get good signals in the house...

It cost an extra $30 a month just to add texting to our plan. I don't think I want it that much. Sheesh. (there's limited texting options too but you pay per phone for those and it works out the same...gads)

Holy crap! We are with US Cellular, unlimitied text on four phones=$20 per month. I recently compared Verizon with US Cell, I can honestly say I think their rate plans are horrid!

Don't see that very often.

Terri that campsite is at Wallowa Lake, OR. It's our favorite camping spot. The lake is gorgeous and very very deep. Ice cold year round. You can't see the tops of the mountains on this shot (from this morning). But they are pretty tall. As your looking at the lake here, the campsite is at the far end around the corner. Right at the base of the mountains.

Great shot of the lake and mountains.

I didn't experience the fatigue in my neck like I usually do, but have extremely sore feet and knees from standing on concrete for four days. I came away from the airshow with a total of 2,154 images that I have to cull down to about 12-15 for the article...

Uh, yeah...good luck with that

CrazieCricket wrote in post #6446889 (external link)
HAHAHA!!! Thats what my son was thinking too! In fact, he didn't like those guys nosing around under that canopy, (they had wrecked our neighbors Saturday morning) so, he bursts out of the tent and grabs the ax! Trys chasing them away, with no luck. He could of knocked em over the head with no problem I have a pic of him trying to chase one off, but not sure if I should post it. Thought some people might get the wrong idea of what he was intending

Good thing the deer didn't attack him....I remember seeing a video once of a guy getting close to a deer that started using him as a punching bag with the front hooves
