Here's some pictures I took 2 weekends ago while on a road trip with my girlfriend. The pictures are of Western Norway, I'll add to the descriptions as I post the pictures. All pictures are with my 5D, mostly with the 24-105, and some with the 70-200 f4 IS, both using Hoya cpl's. The only downside on the trip was the amount of cloud cover. All pictures are resized, and with level / contrast adjustments. C&C greatly appreciated.

The first 2 are pretty much at the same location. The water is from glaciers melting. The color is due to the low energy level, and the minerals in it. It is very clear, and the color is amazing. The farm, well, it has a great view, and the field has a nice variation of color. These were taken on our way to Trollveggen.

Very interesting water quality and color.

I think the farmer has some prize realestate since he owns the flatland in the middle of those mountains! I cannot image a better to view to work beneath!

Thanks for sharing a part of the world that I have not seen.

Numbers 3 and 4.

There is a river that runs along the highway (I was coming from near Lillehammer driving east to west). There are many rapids in it. It is also a similar color to the water in the first picture. The windy road is half of Trollveggen. The lanes are only wide enough for traffic in one direction. As this is the end of the tourist season, it was very easy driving along it. On opposite sides of the drive up the fjord are 2 good sized waterfalls.

Numbers 5 and 6.

These are from after driving to the top of Trollveggen, and continuing towards Geiranger. It was 19C or almost 70F and there's still patches of snow this close to winter. I thought the snow, water, and flowers made an interesting combination. The fjord is high enough in the other shot to show the lack of vegetation as you get even higher. This is a very popular area for people to go hiking and camping.

And for 7 and 8.

The day was starting to get pretty long (it ended up being 14 hours round trip), so I tried to keep the picture taking brief. The lake was very calm for this fjord (there was a similar one on the other side). This lake didn't have the color as the river in the pictures above. The small town is Geiranger. You get to drive down the fjord to get to it, then back up it after going through the town. Large cruise ships sail in here. When they turn around, there isn't much space left on either side of the fjord. The fjords are quite steep, which would be more evident as you pan to the right, but alas I've posted the maximum allowed images.

An excellent series Scott. Thanks for the explanations too. It's always nice to see other places, even better when the person there tells the story. :)
