I have seen some recent posts around the net claiming the existence of a '9D' based on exif seen on Flickr. Just to see if exif could be faked I made my own 5D mkII and 1D MK IV files using a hex editor and some hex editing flashbacks to my old Commodore 64 days.

Just because you saw it on the internet doesn't make it true. Please excuse the bad photo.

Hmmm...now who do we believe? The 9D people, or you? You're both on the Internet...You're probably working with the same people who faked the moon landing. :)

(BTW, my general rule is "If it's on the Internet, it's probably NOT true". However, now I wrote THAT on the Internet, so I don't know WHAT to believe...)

be careful, you're entering into a paradox that might cause the Internet to explode.. maybe that's causing a black hole of sorts and that's why YouTube has been so horribly slow...

I blame the LHC (external link) for any and all black holes created. I think Google owns the LHC (they own everything else) and all the energy it takes to run it is causing their server farms to suffer. When they create cold fusion YouTube will be back up and running.

But, back on thread topic, it's true, everything in EXIF can be faked, so dates, times, aperatures, etc cannot be trusted.

Is there any significance that the 5D MKII is coming out at the same time the Europeans are firing up the CERN accelerator and trying to create mini black holes??

It's easy with windows vista : preview a photo; right click; properties ; details then you can edit the exif datas. Like this i upgraded one of my photo from a 40D to a 50D ...

You didnt need to do any kind of test. There are Exif editors you can down load. In fact even microsoft has one.

Don't worry. If the internet explodes, Al Gore will fix it.

Some stuff that says "Canon" on it and a happy trigger finger.
