Can't talk right now, but I had an great afternoon shooting a cancer benefit.

I wanted to show this picture to show how good the Mk3 is at high ISO's.

ISO1600, F2.8, No Noise Reduction (external link) (Adobe Camera Raw)

More pictures to follow, and a very nice story.

Wow, that looks like ISO 400 on my old 20D. Very nice

Btw, I did slightly overexpose this picture, but this is also a testament to the dynamic range of the camera (and benefits of 14 bits to keep tones smooth).

looks great although i think that even the mkIIn or 40D would have done pretty good with the same scene since light wasn't too bad and you overexposed the image (its amazing how much difference exposing to the right does)

Yeah, exposing to the right does help, although, with the MK3 I don't have to. I used to do it all the time with the 20D with great results, except that often highlight detail was lost, which doesn't happen with the Mk3.

I do definitely notice a big improvement over similar shots from my MK2N at ISO1600 though... about 1 stop improvement, and better shadows to boot if I want to lift them a bit.

I don't get the point of this. Its 1/1000. Meaning there is lots of light. If it was 1/30 then it might mean something.

I've got pics at 1/60s that don't look too much different from these.

I'm going thru 800 pictures I took today, and holy $@$%balls did the MK3 / 70-200/2.8IS come thru with flying colours!

Initially I was having problems with the 70-200, sent it to Canon only to get it back 2 weeks later saying they cleaned foreign debris, but NO FAULT FOUND. HOWEVER, since I got it back this lens and camera combo is amazing! And I just can't get over the colours.

This is typical of the sharpness I'm getting now (F3.2) (external link)

I rarely care about ISO anymore, unless i'm on the 3200/6400 boarder. iso400 is my default for sports, and i'll jump to 1600 without a second thought.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Holy ****balls wouldn't be a way I would describe things however I understand yout excitement.

ISO 1600 is a walk in the park with the 1DMKIII.
It does native ISO 3200 and it's usable as well.

One of the big reasons I stepped up to the 1DMKIII from the 5D that's for sure.
