I recently purchased the EF 85mm f/1.2 L II and I am definetely having an issue with it. While shooting with the lens and my Canon 40D the camera will power down and the low battery indicator will flash. I turn the power switch to off and back on and it performs fine but happens again within a few minutes. I have several other lenses including the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS. This has never happened before with any other lens. Anyone have any ideas?

I've read about this several times... try searching the forum and you should find some discussions about it.

I'll do likewise and report back if I find anything.

Lot's of 40D users complain about this exact issue. The 85L is a power hog for AF to be sure. What I don't know is why 20D, 30D and 5D users do not also seem to have the same problem as we all share the same battery.

You would think the Rebels would be worse too, but maybe too few people are running the Rebel + 85L combo to make a note.

I use a Canon 5DIII and a Sony A7rIII

It's a known and quite common problem...the 40D needs to be returned to Canon I'm afraid.
