Hi

These beautiful birds are not very common in my country.
I catch them in an isolate rocky cliffs in the north coast.

Not very sharp shot due to heavy crop, but anyway I like share them.

They are beautiful Rene. And the color contrasts in this shot are striking.
Can you tell us if the long tails are indicators of their sex or maturity?

really nice image,

Kenn

Hi canonloader, good to see you again.
This bird can be found in tropical seas around the world, including Hawai.
I shot it in the northwestern cliffs of the Puerto Rico island, in a town called Arecibo.

This bird nests on isolated rocky cliffs, but spends much of its life far out at
sea. He flies with rapid, deep wing beats high over the ocean, but will hover
like an apparition over a fishing boat, unnoticed by human mariners until
someone happens to look straight overhead.

Hi Kenn, thanks for your comments.
You are totally correct, the immature birds lack the adult’s long tail. Also it's
interesting to know that tropicbirds’ legs are so short, that it has to push its
body with legs and wings to move on land. They spend most of his life flying in seas open waters.

Regards,
Rene

:DWhoa...

What more can one ask for my friend ...WONDERFUL shots of a very beautiful and Exotic bird...

Great capture and stunning photo:D

I would sincerely love to get a print of this one day from you my brother of this Puerto Rican DELIGHT!

Here in the Hawaiian Island waters we have some very beautiful birds of the sea but nothing....nothing IMHO that can compare to the wonderful free-spirit and elegance that you captured of this trio in flight... Truly spectacular for an island boy like me!

Well done!!!

That's a beautiful, elegant seabird and one I'd love to see! They are occasional off of North Carolina's pelagic trips which I'm going on next year. Booju: You do have some amazing seabirds in Hawaii, tropicbirds do nest on some of the islands. Red-billed, Red-tailed and I think White-tailed as well.

Yes we do, but its real TOUGH being able to get up close for a spectacular shot in some of our very remote areas!...
