hi gang, it's me again, with another question. :o

when I had my Rebel XT I owned a remote, the RC-1. when I bought my new camera (EOS 40D) they said that the same remote would work for it,, now my problem/question is this: I cannot remember if I had to install something in the way of a cd or something to get it to work,, how would I get the remote to work for my 40D? any thoughts?

Sue

The RC-1 doesn't work with the 40D... I'm in the same boat, sorry. There are some fairly inexpensive remotes available on E-bay but the Canon option is Xpensive...

go back with it, tell her to show you it working. Otherwise tell her that you bought the camera with the knowledge that the remote would work, so since it doesn't she will happily give you the correct remote at no charge :D

$80 to be exact. More then I want to pay for a remote.

same problem with 20D for me, so i bought a cheap wireless one from ebay, works fine, and since it's RF instead of IR, i don't need to be in front of the camera, so I can use it with tripod instead of a cable release sometimes. I think this is the one I have http://cgi.ebay.com …%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1 (external link)

On a kind of related note, I've read that you can use a graphing calculator as a remote trigger (or more specifically in the article I read, an intervalometer).
