One of these days I will actually meet black z......

I am pretty happy with the shots. There is little to no editing on the majority of the pictures. The only editing I had to do were with the night pictures, since I was mostly shooting at ISO 1600.

Feel free to leave feedback......

Great photos. Love the tire distortion in 4 and 8.

While not stellar from an image point of view, that pile of meat in the second sure made my mouth water (and I just stepped away from the dinner table)!

I love #1. When they seat the clutch and the nitro fumes flow into the crowd, that gas mask is the best way to go!

Awesome shots!!

Love the tire/fire/late sun shots! :)

What's the next event coming that we'll both be attending? We'll have to make plans to meet up. :)

Yup. My wife and I always head up front with the masks on, but I'm finding it more fun lately standing far back and watching people cough and cry and run away holding their face when that nitro hits them.

Nice shots. I think you did very well, especially shot 5 and shot 8 - it's always cool seeing that distortion of the tires and the car at the end of the track.

Yup. The first time I took a DSLR to a NHRA event, I had my 'then' brand new 300D, with a 70-300 Sigma (cheapo) lens. I didn't know what to expect since I was learning how to use a DSLR still......but was very shocked to actually see the extreme tire distortion. Pretty cool.....

Great shots!! The view of #8 is awesume, along with the tire distortion look at how the car is arched up in the middle. Justincase, I'm with you on standing back and watching all the yahoo's getting in there and choking on the fumes. I try to pay attention to wind direction so I'm not one of them... LOL.

I learned to do just that 10-15 years ago, when I was about that age also (10-15). Its like watching a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off.

My father-in-law and his brother-in-law (follow that?) will sometimes get as close to the front as they can and get their masks on before they even light the cars up and there will be some goon standing in front of them laughing and mocking them for wearing the masks. Then they light the cars and the fumes pour out and the goon starts coughing and choking and trying to get the heck out of there, and they'll both just stand there and block him in (they're both big guys) and just laugh right back at him as he's crying like a little girl. Oh, for fun. I can't wait for November.
