Guys, heres a serious question for you.

I shot as a photographer (no contract based) nearly a year ago. Got paid on the day before I started. Shot the event and then processed and hosted the photos online. Nearly a year later, the company who took me on need the photos for the client.

I have removed them for my system and off my site due to lack of communication and as I see it, waste of my time.

-STOP-
At this point, you would expect the company to be worried, upset at the loss of photos. I would expect someone to be throwing some sort of panic since they would have to refund.

-Continue-
Now the company/guy I was working for, really didn't seem to care! I really do feel sorry for his clients.

As a client, what would you have done? As the company, what should you have done?

As a Company I assume you had a back up that you could have given them, or I am surprised you did not give them a Cd with the image on you processed?? if you have a back up and you did give them as a CD, and they lost it, charge a small admin fee to supply another CD

Photographic Images on Brett Butler (external link) px500 (external link) & Flickr (external link) Some Canon Bodies , few blackish lenses, A dam heavy black one, couple dirty white ones, a 3 legged walking stick, a mono walking stick, and a bag full of rubbish
And Still Learning all walks of life, & most of all Photography.

Which picture won?

Well it was the 5 photos I entered under the 'Bird' heading which won me the Bird category ... apparently I was second overall in the whole competition!! Darn!!!

I was bought in as a shooter and the guy who owned the company was second shooter.

Once I got the shots I liked, they were uploaded to a mini gallery on my site for the client to pick, nearly a year ago.

The client picked all the pictures and informed the company owner. Then the owner just does not keep in contact, answers my calls and spends loads of time on holidays. I know this because I see his pictures on Facebook so I know theres nothing wrong with the guy.

So as a result and some data loss, I only have thumbnails now of the photos and the rest have been lost but the company owner really didnt seem to care that all the photos the client paid for have been lost.

Pretty sad to see a potentially sucessful company to be run like that. Which is another reason why I am going freelance.

Well Mitesh it is history now, but can you imagine how pleased the Customer would have been and how good it could be for your future company, if you had a back up and could offer the images out again as I said at a small admin fee. I think most Companies would assume you sort of kept back up of a paid job.

:)

I really think David, that we deserve full credit for those images WE selected for you, you only shot them, it was us that did all the hard work :)

Good to see the SE group Photographers getting credits again :)

Hmmm I'm not sure ... I think it may have been the Starling one though as that's the one which is on their website now ...

With regards to the big shoot, perhaps I should explain for the benefit of the others ;) A brand new laboratory complex has just been built at our company (well, the insides of an old warehouse were stripped out an a new lab put in its place) and today was the official opening by the Managing Director. Ian was initially asked to be the photographer but he was busy, so he recommended me! :D So for 2.5 hours this morning I was walking around with the MD and a group of other top people, taking photos of them as they were shown around the new facility!

It was my first 'ground shoot' (have done quite a bit of aerial work in the past :)) and I was really nervous beforehand! Fortunatley Ian had done a 'rehearsal' with me the previous evening in the new lab so I had a good idea what sort of settings I needed to use, particularly with regards to the flash .... I'm a relative noob when it comes to flash photography and Ian gave me the basics to move on from ... and as a result, the photos came out great! :D

Fingers crossed this won't be the last photo job I do for the company :)

Cheers!

David

Ive noticed. Its the quiestest in a long time. Maybe people are catching up on all the pages?

Im just busy networking on other sites for car photography. People are slowly taking an interest. Looks like I need to create an online booking form for people to request availability and book a date for a shoot. :)

As for the picture?! Somone selling tumbleweed on ebay??
