Jeepers! What an afternoon it's been! I have been frantically sorting and uploading photos for the Photographer of the Year that was mentioned this morning. Deadline was 5pm. I just made it! If anyone's interested: http://poty2008.dcmag.co.uk …f1-42fa-98cc-e709abbd60d4 (external link)
There's a few duffers in there but what the heck!

In the middle of doing that a fight broke out and I had to go deal with it! That and the subsequent report have taken up the last 90 minutes! Phew!

I would not mind enterong a competion or two but i'm sure sure if I would agree to terms like this...

(from Photographer of the Year 2008 )

11. Reproduction of entries
By entering your images into the competition, you grant to Future and any of the official partners, sponsors, or associates of Future relating to the competition a worldwide, non-exclusive, irrevocable licence throughout the world in perpetuity in all media to reproduce any of the images for any purposes in connection with the competition including, but not limited to, the following purposes:

a) judging the competition
b) voting by registered members of www.digitalcameramagazine.co.uk (external link)
c) inclusion within the website, Digital Camera magazine, Photographer of the Year book, supplements or similar
d) displaying the winning and commended entries at public exhibitions promoting the competition
e) inclusion of Editor’s Choice, winning and commended entries in television coverage connected with the competition and / or any exhibition
f) inclusion within marketing and promotional materials (including emails, websites and press packs) for the competition and / or any exhibition
g) sub-licencing the entries to the press for reproduction in connection with the competition and any exhibition
h) allowing viewers of the Website to view images on a computer screen, PDA or mobile telephone and store such pages in electronic form for their personal, non-commercial use
i) reproduction on Digital Camera Photographer of the Year merchandise
j) being chosen and entered into promotional competitions by Future for marketing and promotional purposes

All entrants must be able to supply a high-resolution image suitable for printing in media. Please note that your real name, rather than your username, will be used where your image is reproduced.

QUOTED IMAGE

I cropped it a bit differently, did some final touch ups and sent it off to the printer today. I'm a bit worried that it will seem too dark, but I guess we'll see.

I'm kind of excited, it's the first thing I've ever really had printed. I didn't start small either, it's going to be 72"x24" ;)

We want a pic of it up on your wall!! :D

It's the official partners, sponsors, or associates of Future and including, but not limited to that makes me pause.

Reads to me like we will share it with who we want, and will create a new purpose of use when and if we want.

Yea, its a bit like give give us your really great images and we can do with them what they like, I'm sure they wouldn't and the T&C's are there more to cover them but i gues the thing is that they could.

It does say they'll put the images on merchandise... a white t-shirt is boring, but a white t-shirt with one of Mitesh's rig shots would sell well (I get 50% on that idea Mitesh).

Good on ya mate, i think people need to stand up for themselves more rather than rolling over. A wood or iron?

Was my driver. Callaway aka Big Bertha. Been through the wars and should think about a new set. :(
