Heh. I normally just check on here and see what I missed. :)

Going monopod shopping today. I have NOOOO idea what im looking for. Was thinking that or an angle finder.

I looked into the Zigview a while back. More expensive than a standard Canon angle finder but with loads of features that could come in handy.

Looks like I have a new idea for a birthday present from the missus.

No sense and unfortunately not enough money.

Whatcha after a monopod for? Shooting with the 300?

David :)

Pretty much yeah. Its not the weight that is an issue but would be nice for some support to help shoot.

Dont need anything heavy duty since it doesnt weigh a tonne!

Cheers for the info on the finder Elliot. :)

Monopod with the 300mm!!! Grow some muscles boy! ;)

I use a monopod on the 70-200 at some events where I have to hold the camera up for 2hours non-stop. I got a Gitzo one, 15xx I think. I like gitzo over manfratto as you don't have those big clamps on the side so its just like a pole.

I'm going to Canon Elstree today taking the 1DMKIII in as its just doesn't seem right to me! Might be me not knowing how to use it correctly but I don't think it is...

I did mention weight is not the issue.

I just need something as a resting support. Need to get used to longer FL's and can only see using a monopod to going to help to start with. So ner!

No problem. I seem to remember that it has a time lapse function. Isn't that something you started to experiment with a while back?

Sorry to hear your 1D3 is still giving you grief :( Will be interested to hear what Canon has to say ... can you post any full-res images to demonstrate the problem?

Cheers :)

David

Looks like that Zigview could be the answer to your problems then.
Not all of your problems, obviously. It's not that advanced. Just the need for a timer remote and angle finder. :p:lol:;)

Me too!!! I'm sure it won't be, I've managed to work every other camera I've owned in the last 4 years....350D, 30D, 40D, 1Dmk2n.... lol I read various things about the AF and softness and how canon have changed the way it ways but it still shouldn't as soft/OOF as it is.. its not miles off but its not as good as my mkIIn.

Not got an examples handy David.

Ian, has the micro adjustment not helped out for this?
