nice shot Ray.
It does look a little over sharpenned. Is that done in camera or PP?

I'd be interested to see a 100% crop.

Ok MaDProFF and Swaffs - Thanks - I must confess to using PS a lot on anything. To bring King George on his horse out of shadow I used Image>Adjustments>Shadow/Highlights. JPG'ing these files does seem to lose a lot of definition. It seems a good idea of MaDProFFs to float tips on our own use of PS.
I suppose to be fair - I should really have posted the original file after downsizing it to about 1200 pixels. Anyway these are practical results and not designed to 'Knock' the camera as seems the aims of some forums.

Brett,
I will try that.

I often show people the Shadow/Highlights sliders in PS, and its amazing how it can boost an image.

I guess there is no raw converter yet well in ACR, only DPP, (never did like DPP)
I was not knocking the camera or image, actually I am pretty impressed with the way it has dealt with shadow and highlights and nice blue in the sky, but I could see it lacked a little punch because of the light in general, hence the exposure tip, it may not work for everyone, but it does take the dull sheen off images for sure when in light like that.

Personally I think the 50D is going to be an awesome all round body those extra 5 MP will give a greater control of a 1.6 crop body, and cropping the images and still ending up with a decent size print

Agree with brett,
I'm tempted to get a 50D as a second body (although really want a 5DII)

I've taken down a few numbers that have been posted and I'll text those when I am nearly there, probably be up there earlier anyway. My number is 0 7 590058814.

Yep, outside Westminster Tube Station or there abouts to start with... then Embankment direction and wandering over to Picadilly. There's no fixed route but the start will be Westminster T.S.

Looking forward to meeting everybody who can go.

Fantastic day (night) for a meet up.
Not sure what time i will get to the city and can't decide on the train or to drive in but if i can give you a ring Adam when i get there that would be great:D

Sorry for asking as I'm sure it's been mentioned, but I've been somewhat of a forum slacker lately. What time are we meeting up this eve?

My 2 pence worth in your Case, wait till the 5D MK2 comes out if proven to be as good as we think it will, get it cheapest as poss :), HK, or Kerso, I think you will be able to use it a lot some for work, and all for play as you are really into strobes and general playing of late, and then next year, wilt til lthe 1D MK3 replacement comes out, I think that will be an awesome upgrade :)

Sorry not cheap options though :(

Hi MaDProFF - I wasn't suggesting you knocked the 50D - you certainly did not - I was talking of other threads where the keep on bleating about hi ISO noise. Well for all practical purposes its nice to have low ISO noise but I can go along ok with it as it is. When I used film I can't remember even using ISO 800 - but I managed.
Incidentally - the 15MPix is awsome for the sensor size.

Adobe PS have not got the new ACR yet - I have just checked the updates. I believe there is an Adobe version available in their trial version of CS4 - but have not tried it. I gave up soddin' about with the Canon RAW converter - too much bother - or perhaps its just me.

I think there is a review out in the Amateur Photographer today on the 50D.
I have not seen it yet.

Well the original time was 6pm, still is. But I believe quite a few people will be getting there anytime up to 7.30pm. I'll be there at 6, maybe a bit earlier.

I work about 5 minutes from Westminster station, and finish work around 17:30 so I'll be loitering around waiting for people.
I may go for a pint with a mate after work first, anyone arriving early ish, give me a bell (07793114866).
