Hi all!
I want to get a 5D. I want to pay as little as ppossible (no suprises there then!) and I am prepared to wait a month or so (no more) before buying.

With 5DMk2 waiting in the wings, what will happen to 5d prices both new and second hand when the Mk2 is launched?

Anyone who watched and monitored the 40D then the intro of the 50D will probably see a trend - could you tell me what happened with them please?

Many thanks,
G..
P.S this was posted by me and moved by the mods. Sorry, totally forgot about this bit of the forum and see the same question has been asked.

There will be no new only used as I believe canon is taking the original 5D off the market once the MKII is launched ;)

The 5D will be discontinued, but there will still be a supply of new units. The price has gone up recently at BH. The price of the 5D always went up and down between around $1600-$2400 the last 2 years or so because of rebates, or speculation of a new 5D MII. It seems that this year it will actually happen. Im guessing since the 5D MII is rumored to be around $3400-$3600 USD, they can still get away with selling a 5D for $2000 give or take $100-200.

Average price for a used 5D seems to be around $1500 or so at the moment.
