Does anyone know of a carbon fiber monopod with flip/lever locks other than Bogen / Manfrotto?

To be honest, while I have tried twist locks I'm not sure if Gitzo's is one of those. I have just never cared for a twist lock, I like the solid snap of a flip lock.

I have a Feisol CM-1401 carbon fiber monpod, but it didn't have a head, so I got the bogen 486rc2 head with quick release

edit: oh i see, you meant the locks for extending the leg? Mine are twist locks.

The original locks of the Gitzo, before they improved to the anti rotation legs and G locks, sucked. With the new upgrades, they are awesome and very easy to use, nothing to get snagged on. Way better than flip locks.

I really think you should try the latest Gitzo twist locks. IMO you really cant beat how quick and convenient they are to operate.

I agree. I have a small hand, yet I can twist and lock/unlock all four joints of my Gitzo GM-3550 with a single hand motion from a folded position.

OK, I'm looking at Gitzo. Any comments on their Basalt pods?

Usually a little heavier, and not as much vibration dampening as carbon fiber, but still high quality Gitzo stuff. Make sure whatever you get from them has the G-Lock and Anti-Rotation Leg system. Otherwise dont buy it.

I have a Gitzo with the ALR and it is great. I have seen other twist locking mechanisms that are no comparison to the Gitzo.
