Hi,

Bloody hell some good weather this weekend for a change, anyway here's a few of the 20 million shots I fired off, C&C welcome (encouraged in fact!)

Tried to get some a little different from my usual crop which has tended to focus on one bike only.

Thanks for looking, Garry.

I like the way n pic 1, its almost uniform. Blue, then Reds, others then the greens!
Love the one of Tom Sykes bike flaming. Goes to show that only one side works and the other is a dummy!

That's a great shot of John McGuinness, good panning.

Yep, I agree with you - Sykes has a 4 into 1 with dummy to appear like the road bike!

Thanks for the comments.

Cracking set of images Garry, I was watching for Sykes' exhaust flame but he only seemed to be doing it up at Tower:(

Cheers

I got the flame shot in the complex second race, I think the bike runs quite rich and it flames at the end of a long straight once he has shut off, it did it into the Esses last weekend too.

A fine set indeed.

The only thing that "spoils" #1 is the chopped head on the lead bike, but knowing you'd have been battling with half the world just to get a spot there it's a minor criticism :)

I do have a shot with the real front man in full view - attached, but I liked the hustle, order and colour of the other one better, what do you think?

Numbers 1 and 7 are my fav's, though to clean up number 7 I'd be tempted to PS out the bike in the background. It's a little distracting and I don't think losing it from the shot would spoil the overall image.

Well that's pretty much how i'd have tried to shoot it, but at the end of the day it's your shot so you choose how it looks. There's more than 1 way to skin a cat...

I would say anyone looking to buy a shot from that angle wouldn't want a severed head in the foreground though. In the background you might get away with it a little easier although it's still not ideal (I'm as bad as anyone for doing it though :D )

I quite like how the middle bike is in focus too (bottom centre focus point?) but next time you get the chance, experiment with the other points too. Try using the bottom left point to track the lead bike whilst framing the shot in a similar way. Also, for pack shots try moving round to the fence at the end of the start/finish straight. There's no clutter in the background.

I don't think there's any more bike meetings at Croft this year but the Club meets are always good and the crowds are much easier to cope with.

Thanks for the support, I have a 20D and am under the impression (probably wrong) that (in AI Servo) it has to acquire the subject in the centre fp first and then hands it off to the others as the target moves through the frame. I am going to get the 5D when everyone dumps them for the 50D/7D(?)

I like the club meets idea, it would give me a chance to experiment with technique more - does Croft do a season ticket or similar to cover all events?
