Shots taken on the track basically in our back yard. Build for shifter/legend cars, but serves as our backyard drift track as well. :)

Photos taken with my 35-80 f/4-5.6. I know I have lot of work to do. Just a beginning getting involved slowly.

I just picked up a 28-135 f/3.5-5.3, which will probably give me a bit more to work with.

C&C Welcome.

super jealous of a backyard track, that s14 needs a makeover...the 33headlamps don't flow at all and the front needs to be lower to match the rear compression. not used to no helmets either. exif info is blocked, but i think a slower shutter on the panning would have better results also.

Yeah, the entire car needs some work...but it's a drift car. They aren't pretty, but they serve their purpose.

Thanks for the advice. Like I said, this was my first time shooting anything moving.

I hope your not talking about the up close photos... Those are blurry... he needs to up the shutter speed quite a bit it seems like. In some of these the whole car was shaky. I understand its hard to take photos of fast moving things but he needs to up it....

He needs to practice ;)....I have panned, well in my opinion successfully without having too much motion shake come out of the image. There are people on this forum shooting at 1/20-1/60 and have minimum motion blur. Remember that the higher the shutter speed the more static your shot would appear. Thus taking any sense of speed from your subject.

Sorry, but IMAGE POSTING RULES only allow 8 embedded pics by the OP per thread, so I removed the IMG tags from the last ones. You can always just post a link to them, though, or better yet, post a link to a gallery so we don't have to click on each link.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Next time we go out, I will up the shutter a bit and see how that works out.

As a comparison, what mode would you guys shoot this type of stuff with?

It does and doesn't, it really doesn't pertain to their comments on shutter speed. The ISO should be set accordingly to the light conditions, which will change the SPECIFIC exposure setting sure, but won't change the fact that if he's getting a static image he needs a longer exposure to get some good motion blur on the background.

Some of the shots he did need a slower shutter, the others he just needs to practice panning, could be some cool pictures when he gets it down though!
