Tripods issue again

I will discuss later why those, and also i can change or add if there are better alternatives, just i want to see which one will you go and your points for the choice.

Gitzo 1000 series to light for my needs.
Gitzo 4 leg sections a compromise I don't want to make.
I want independent leg angles, to handle setup in rough terrain better.
I don't need a column that tilts from vertical; if I did more macro of things in nature, I might change my mind.
Therefore, my reply is 'None of the above'

I've never been a big fan of 4 section tripods and I don't see a reason to use all 4 sections anyway. I would go with a 3 section set up since I feel you get more stability.

But i remember that i didn't post any 3 or 5 series tripods, so i exclude 3 and 5 series.

The GT2531 is the one I just ordered for myself this morning.

Well, how about telling us what you are looking to do with this tripod. Is this going to be a travel tripod, portraiture only tripod, are you just looking for an all around, best combo tripod?

This must be a new form of 20 questions.

I'm for CF tripods for mainly weight and durability. I've used manfrotto before and the weight diffrences are night and day. If you're traveling, than carrying a tripod and other gear will be a difference in weight.

They don't make the 2530 any more, it has been replaced by the 2531, which is what I ordered. I used to have a 2530 and it was terrific.

So what is the benefit of the 2531, over the 2530?

Not much, nothing really significant.

1) a little lighter
2) magnesium head casting
3) security screw for head
4) additional leg angle to let it go lower

There may be more, but honestly, nothing that makes your 2530 any less good.
