Sparrowhawk in the Garden (contains blood and guts)

Had a Sparrowhawk in the Garden earlier this evening, having a go at a Pigeon. Quite dark, so didn't get many keepers, but here's a few of what I did get...

Got to within about 5 or 6 feet of it before it flew off with its lunch.

the detail is amazing on these and some of the best SH shots iv seen -care to share what gear and settings you used .
You say it was dark but you would be hard pressed to get better imo.

Fabulous series. Sharpness and colour are great. If light was a problem it certainly doesn't show.

Thanks for all the comments.

EOS 20D with an EF 70-300IS. Settings were ISO 200, f5.6 and 1/30th sec, or thereabouts.

Very sharp shots...the pigeon is about the same size as the hawk....Our sharpshinned hawk looks kind of like your bird.
