Pretty darned fair.

What was the source for the skin texture?

On the edited version, the skin has the texture of skin (pores, fine wrinkles, etc) - where did that texture come from? A straight blur job would have obliterated the texture.

get that kid some proactiv...STAT

You did a good job considering what you had to work with.

The finished product kinda looks like a thick layer of foundation was used.

I did a few different steps..

1) duplicate the original
2) set the duplicate to overlay and inver the image.
3) Use Highpass to clear up the face.
4) use gaussian blure to clean up the highpass alittle bit.
5) put black mask on duplicate level (alt-click mask layer)
6) take white brush and paint over areas wanting to smooth.
7) If any spots remain use the healing brush tool...

I got steps 1-6 Here (external link) page 10

Hope that helps

I was in your position once with acne removal on photos of myself. I'm telling you now, go see a dermatologist, that looks like stage 2 inflammatory acne and would highly suggest getting it checked out before scarring occurs. Also, refer to acne.org for more information.

I guess you missed the following...
