The 5D Mark II only has a 3 start rating at BB because some chooch gave it a one star rating for black dots that you can only see if you blow up the images to 400%

Bodies: Sony A7, Canon 6D,Canon G15/ Glass Zeiss 16-35, Zeiss 135, Zeiss FE 55 1.8, FE 35 2.8, FE 24-70 F4 OSS,

BB? Best Buy? I don't think anyone that mattered would read the Best Buy reviews, and believe in them.

Maybe a nikon owner.

Seriously, people shouldn't rate it low because of this problem. Maybe know a 1/2 star off or something.... anyway, who cares. ;)

Best Buys has 2 reviews (that I saw) one gives it 5 and a long, long review. The other gives it 2.5 stars and some links to other sites.

Which one would you believe...? I really wonder if the 2.5 star guy even owns the camera.

Well to tell you the truth it should get a lower rating because of the problem...there IS a problem... lol

Blacks photography, they are another Best Buy family electronics store but they are all over Canada and they exclusively sell photo gear and apple products. They had much less preorders then more "professional" or dedicated stores such as Henrys or Vistek; plus they have my price locked down for 2799.99 and not 3099.99 which is nice. That could be the battery grip.

From maybe 4 stars down to 1? Not THAT big a problem. ;)

Apparently the 1D MKIII n has a similar problem. And just a couple of weeks ago a couple of guys were recommending that body as a second one to the 5Dmkii. Then when this black dots problem comes up, suddenly we hear about the 1Dmkii N problem... wha?!

I know we love canon but from a consumer standpoint a 2699 dollar product with a defect like that should not get 4 out of 5 stars...no matter how good the ISO is if you have blown highlights with black dots all over ...

If consumer reports had their "people" rate the camera they would say blah blah blah and how great it is and then state the problem and that it is a 5 star camera but is getting 2-3 stars until canon fixes the problem (if)

they said tomorrow or the day after... i have a feeling it will be longer. but i hope i am wrong. doesn't matter to me just as long as I get it before summer starts LOL. I mainly use my 1D Mark II anyways. I might be able to get a 1D III again if I can get another gig before Feb. Hopefully the price of the 1D III will be pushed down due to the coming announcement of the 1D IV. I miss my 1D III, its like a 1D II with a larger screen lol. hate my 1D II's screen.. I have to squint to see pictures.

I'm not all that savvy with the whole internet deal and finding information. Oy the software that came with my 5dmii will not process raw images so every shot i've been taking has to be jpeg. I prefer raw. I've tried looking on the internet to see if there is any updates and haven't found much that would be useful for me. To my understanding PS CS4 or whatever it is called will process the raw images from the 5dmii BUT I don't have CS4 yet. I have a way older version of PS. Has anybody heard anything about any updates for either Lightroom or the software that came with the cam? I'm quite surprised that Canon hasn't issued an update for their own software for the processing of raw images since I would assume raw is so heavily used by so many or at least those that I know do and this is an area that wasn't addressed or ensured it worked from the beginning.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Not to go all weird on ya stealth, Im just sayin' and you know it's kind of true... It's a product like anything else? I never use any of the functions that are supposedly causing it (I may be out of the loop by now though) so I won't fret;) I just bought one didn't I :):)
