B&H just sent out an email to associates...

"Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital Camera (Camera Body)

We've just received word that the Canon EOS 5D Mark II is available in limited stock. Simply "add to cart"; ignore initial "back-ordered" message. "

Link deleted because i was a horrible rotten boy and posted an affiliate link - MY APOLOGIES!

Is there a limit to the posts?

No, it's just a bit easier for everyone (and considered polite) not to double post. :)

Ah, to be in Hong Kong right now!

When they have 3rd party batteries (not counterfeit ones) I'll probably get some... for now a single battery will have to do. $580 HKD for a Canon battery is a little steep.

According to .exif "Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode."

That doesn't mean that they didn't use studio lighting.

Exactly. And if you look at the eyes, and other settings (like f/10), it's quite obvious that the image was not lit only by ambient.

Right, but the poster was simply regurgitating the exif information.

If you look closely (at the eyes) you can see something like an umbrella and a square soft box were used. I'd say they had video lights on him. As they were probably videoing it for the archives.

There you go. That's most likely the explanation. :)

That's because they didn't use a speedlight the light the picture. They used strobes. When you trigger strobes with your camera using PW's or any other remote, it does not read as 'flash fired'.

I just closed a rather nice sale, so I'll be earmarking some of those funds for a 5DmkII... and a photography course ;)

Interesting! I was thinking about one of those as I do a lot of landscapes with manual focussing. I am concerned that the viewfinder may become too dark in low light, especially with my 24-105 as it is f4. The manual warns about issues with lenses slower than f2.8.

How are you finding it? :)
