The point of those photos is to show off the noise, not the focus of the image.
well if that is true then it still fails.
I know it is better and with a better subject in the image I am sure they will be better.

They're offering a compelling alternative for less money... they're still being competitive, it's just not offering a D700 at a D700 price like so many people here and elsewhere inexplicably desired. I really think people would whine no matter what Canon announced unless it was a 1Ds MK IV at a 5D price. I certainly don't think the 5D2 is perfect, if there was one thing I'd change I'd like to see a different AF system (although my ideal is currently not offered by any manufacturer and I'm not asking for even 20 AF points). I was right there with ya until the "inexplicably" part. Because it's so inexplicable that anybody would want a great all-around camera like the D700 in an EOS mount, right? And I like how expressing disappointment is automatically "whining" in the eyes of so many of those who are excited about this camera. Isn't there room for differing viewpoints without name-calling?

Canon has never changed what the camera was made for but improved on what it always has done. For everything the 5D was at just recent price of $2200-$2400 new, now the MkII at $2700. Nice.

The 5DII will almost certainly be a great camera, especially at the price, so it's natural for some to be excited. On the other hand, some of us were hoping for something different and are thus less enthusiastic about it. No need to beat each other up over differing expectations/hopes. I just think it's a bit silly to hope Canon would replicate the D700. Canon and Nikon have avoided stepping on each other's toes in that fashion for years so there is no reason to expect them (Canon) to do it now. http://www.colorblindedphoto.com

Everyone seems to want to express their opinion, though, and they should have that right. I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

It is similar to what most people would have wanted. It was not so long ago when we were wondering why the 5D had not been update to something more like 16 or 17mp with not much more increase in iso range. I think this was a great release! If I had the cash I would buy one. I put the test images on my site http://enspri.com …21-mp-of-sheer-greatness/ I'd like to know which "photographers" and how many of them "demanded" for 1080p video in the 5D2

And since I'm shooting with a 300D (1600 ISO = USELESS), this will be one hell of an upgrade. 5D Mark II - 17-40L - 35 f/2 - 50 f/1.8 - 100 2.8 Macro
