£700 EXTRA for a UK plug!!! ($1,200 preimium)

To make things simple...

I'm only hoping DP review got it wrong though those guys are normally on their game... It's the grey market for me I think.

NG.

Yes, but then equally, compare to the price of the D700 - street prices are now £1,600 - in a few months the 5DII price will come down too, and will compare very favourably. . . Plus you have the benefit of the L f/4 zooms (as well as their f/2.8 counterparts).

I'm surprised they didn't release a new lens or two to go with it.

Oh yes, and also compare prices with salaries - UK average salaries more than make up for the difference, and in the US, you're one major illness away from bankruptcy. . . I'd rather be in the UK, and pay UK prices. Lastly, if you make money from your photography, register a company, and register for VAT, and you don't pay VAT, which brings the price down to under £1,800.

I'll vote with my feet. Yet again, in the UK we are ripped off.

Honestly.

Anyone visiting the UK anytime soon? Hell the price difference justifies a weekend trip to New York ffs...

You don't need to register a company, you can just be a sole trader and register for vat.

Absolutely...Canon Australia are well known for artificially gouging the market on bodies as most people want local warranty on bodies. Ive been quoted around $3900 Aussie bucks for the body only!!!.....

Canon Australia are shockers

Canon worldwide have body only warraties that cover the country of purchase. In other words Canon local country company wont honor another countries Canon body warranty.

It stinks
