The 1D Mk IV Rumour Thread

You'd think test units would be unmarked or have the labels covered. Are you saying they had Mark IV labels or that you knew enough about the bodies of the Mark III's that you could tell those weren't Mark IIIs?

Canon logo on the top, EOS1 taped and nothing where the MK logo was.
I have the 1Ds and 1D in II, III and this was definitely different.
Sleeker on the top, the back was more rounded on the edges, and different...best way I could put it.

If you post a photo to your newspaper plus attach a higher resolution image with EXIF data intact, then I'd be more inclined to believe you .

I assume you all seen this then? It might be a hokes, but it does look real to me? Not only that, I'm sure Canon is working on one as we speak.

1D for the future

These wishes just came to mind so thought I share...

1) Carbon Fiber Body.
Get this new 1D to be even lighter. Thinner.

2) Interchangeable Processor and Sensor on modular body.
Why get a new body when you can just buy a new sensor and processor when new technology is out. Pop off the back and install it yourself or send to Canon service. This doesn't make sense for Canon $ but they could charge more up front for these ultra flexible.

2.5) Upgradable buffer.
If you got the money you can dump 5GB of ram into the 1D from a chip. This means the buffer won't runs out until run 10fps for around 70 sec

3) Expand and contractible 45 AF Points.
Sometimes AF points on these 1D are too wide! Taking up too much space on the frame and end up grabbing things in the foreground by accident. I like the 5D narrow points and wish 1D would able to do this on the fly. Large area AF or small area AF via button or #4 below.

4) Some sort of camera body shift to change custom setting intuitively. Not via button but rather manipulation of the camera body.
Instead of pressing a button to change preset settings. You can just simply bend the grip outward or tilt the right side grip forward to get to another setting. Example switching back and forth between #3 above AF or 12MP vs 26MP setting. Hope this make sense.

5) Gazlillions of new Megapixels... Who cares!

I know these ideas are on the whacky side but I'm trying to think out of the box here

simply lower the price $2,000 and start offering in colors like lime green and tangerine. Oh, and add a dell logo on the corner of the body.

1Ds models have a little extra hump on the viewfinder housing to accommodate the larger pentaprism.

Comon' enough of the jokes! I'm serious here!
