Probably in a year or so I'll pick up the 5DmkII, assuming nothing else has come along. Looks nice, although nothing really revolutionary unless recording HD movies gets you excited.

Im intrested to compare the images from the 5d2 to the 1Ds3.

Movie mode is not for me, either is live view. The less gizmos the better.

So we have 2 new cameras 50D and 5D. How many will upgrade?

Why all the teasers over the 5D2 though. I don't seem to recall all that sort of fuss over the 50D or the MK3s. What's so special about the 5D?

Its more affordable to the masses. Also the 5D was 3 yrs old and there were never any issues with it. People wanted to see what canon would do to make it better.
Add to that Nikons new releases many were expecting ............
However there was both joy and dissapointment.

Dave re the new 24L what was the major issue with the old one?

dont forget the G10 :)

If I was to upgrade it would be the D700 at the moment. But I have no immediate plans, 40D is doing everything I need except faster flash sync

trouble is that $5k isn't going to be the likely NZ cost...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Bloody amazing what a huge Hoo Haa there is about a camera release.
Most people seem disappointed as it doesn't have a particular bell or whistle that they where hoping for. But 90% of these these bells and whistles won't make better photos.
As for the people saying they will change to Noink as it currently has a camera that they like more... what is in 2 years then.
They are probably the people who change their wife when they see a new one with bigger breasts... then they change when they start to hang a little. ;)

If you ignore the hype the Mk2 actually appears to be a great landscape and portrait camera. 5D never was for action, which is what most people seem to be upset about.

Now that i know where to get my sensor cleaned, I'm quite happy with my 5D ;)

You know guys our 5D will always be a classic. Even now I miss mine. It was simple, light, lens didnt need micro adjusting ....I even miss cleaning the sensor

Scott you found duncans sensor cleaning classes.

The ISO thing is what intrests me, I still maintain my 5D was better at ISO than my 1Dsmk3.

Akiwi the wife analogy is far to real for many but same principle.....people should be happy with what they have.

Except when it starts failing on them when they need it to work.

The impossible has begun - another step closer - and I am very hungry for it.
