Went today to the Catlins, didn't get much fun as we didn't stop much longer, so i will try to arrange tomorrow to stay in Catlins for 2 nights to hike around.

Hope things are improving.
If you can get, ask around about were the seals are, and make your way to the beach.
You should be able to hitch a ride if you need to.

So long and thanks for all the flash

Nice, but where's the ones of Christie? ;)

Man, the depth of the tones, and harshness of contrast in that work very, very well. :)

seems i shouldn't ask anyone, nothing here seems easier for me, i asked the main i-Site visit center in Christchurch and the customer service man there told me there is no way, either i have to rent a car or i have to go under those tours which didn't help or satisfy me already.

tony - just looked at your maths...

yes they work if you get there for free - don't insure your gear - or yourself - don't eat - don't buy cd's / dvd's - don't pay for postage and packaging - don't pay for phone calls - website running costs - take into account wear and tear of everything from gear - pc - car - you etc...... not to forget income tax - gst - accountant fees etc.

a shoot could end up costing your something like $14000 if a car takes out your gear and some how you get missed. and your contents insurance will not touch you.

even if you don't see this you are using your gear for commercial gain so your basic insurance will say no. at a rough est - cheap insurance is around $3k - $ 9k depending on the risks.. (motor racing for some unknown reason is way up there on the risks).

She is awesome. I enjoy every second of any time we end up shooting. One of those people who makes so much more sense when the camera's pointed at her too, it just all comes together. The camera loves her! Glad you found the same, always interesting to see how different people shoot/get on with someone you're used to working with. :)

That's a point actually, I haven't found any insurance company here who will cover your use of the camera when earning a cent under a contents policy.

Chris for reference, shot with Hattie tonight. She's wonderful, and a very interesting person to talk to whilst clicking away. She's also looking forward to hooking up with you again when she visits. :)

Cheers, Dave.

My opinion is that the 2 images on the start page look really low quality. Grainy & soft.
You have some great images in your gallery but somehow seem a little flat. Maybe I like a little more saturation in the images or more contrast. A bit off a personal taste thing I guess, what do others think?

dgcorner wrote in post #6741485 (external link)
Tony, is it my LCD or are the home page photos very bad? Looks like you put very small photos? Doesn't look good considering the photos in the gallery look sharp...

10 years ago I passed my degree. My mother, bless her, was so pleased she gave a financial gift. 100 pounds for every year I was in uni. I desparately wanted a Sony Mavica but couldn't afford it as I was going away for a dirty weekend with the missus to celebrate. I rushed out to Dixons and bought this little fella. Found it this weekend as I was going through some boxes.

Know what your saying. This is also the reason why I am not trying to stand on any other phototog's toes who do this for a living.

If by some chance me and my gear do get taken out then thats life. I cant afford to pay for total bubble wrap protection. I cringe at the $120 a fornight we pay for morage protection.

Insurance has become such a scam. Buy a $100 printer ..."Would you like and extened warrenty with that". Life has risks, sh1t happens .....what next "insult insurance....that way if you say something un PC you are covered

Yes peoples perception of motorsport or any other "high risk" event is way over the top.......... just a way for these turkeys to charge more and fatten their own pockets.

We just sorted out insurance out through the NZIPP - brokers. Its a specific photographic insurance policy called Focus Plus. We're covered for a significant amount of gear/public liability etc anywhere in the South Pacific for a pretty low price.... The only catch is you have to be a NZIPP member.

State insurance who our contents are with also quoted me and theres wasnt too bad, but this specialised policy is about half of what State quoted for the same dollar value. State broke it down though into two values, one for fixed assets (ie computers etc at home) and the other for stuff when out on the road..

A bunch of Canon bits and pieces.
