Just got the call fro, Canon, the 70-200 lives again! They had to replace the motor and the front group, total cost $1250 though! Mostly paid by travel insurance though.

Yay!

Good to hear insurance is covering most of it too.

So long and thanks for all the flash

No, more sports type stuff. For example my daughter has been selected to represent the school in athletics. So says its a 100mtr race you dont need a full blown video camera to capture say 30 seconds.

Canon warrentys are also subject to acceptable use. Has anyone heard from the car guy with the faulty camera that had it come back with parts missing?

consumer guarantees act will come to your rescue, but you'll have to fight ... can be more hassle than it's worth.

yeh ive fought a fight like that before for a faulty lemon computer under warranty... was boring, took forever. might not go there for the sake of a couple hundred... dont want them to boobytrap my camera in revenge lol

Welcome along Chris

Re: 5DII, I'm tempted in getting one, just for my time in NZ and sell once I leave - useful for landscapes and wedding shots, and see what the fuss about HD is :p
But then again, it's expensive, and that money can go into more useful things, like petrol for road trips
And I've only just bought the 85L and Lee/Hitech filter kit
