OK, have made up my mind and am going to order some of these
http://www.alienbees.com/cybersync.html (external link) ... They seem to have the same performance as PW's and are areound 1/3 the price. They do however have a surcharge for international orders so does anyone else want to split the shipping and order some too? Speak now or forever hold your peace :)

So am I methinks. Just asked here (external link) why this guy went with Flash Waves instead, but his reasons don't appear to apply in my case, so I'm favouring the Cybersyncs too...

I'm quite happy with it really. I know it's not perfect, but I am pretty impressed with the 40D's ISO 3200.

Is he laying vinyl? Looks like what we were doing last night ;)

Interesting as I'm already a CPS Europe member.

I think anything is better than a popup flash :P

 I take the work crisis was averted then! ;)

tonnes wrote in post #6369908 (external link)
I used to have this bad habit of covering the popup flash with tape and pretending I had a 5D. I grew out of it.

*Bangs head against wall* WHY doesn't that surprise me!?

That's actually really quite cool, could benefit from a quick whizz up with PP I think but really nice.

Let me know anyway, as soon as i hear back from them with payment instructions I am placing the order, (probably tomorrow night as they only seem to reply once a day

Is there a verdict on whether these things come with cords and stuff so they just plug straight into the sync socket on a flash gun? I guess I'd only need one transmitter and one receiver (though ought to buy two receivers really). I guess they're also completely free to connect to any form of studio flash head via the sync socket for future proofing too?

If they work, come with the bits to fire a Speedlight and will allow me to plug them into studio heads (and not force me to use AB products to do so) in the future then I am in on the order mate. PW's are just too fuggin expensive, and although they obviously work, I actually thought they were made out of old yoghurt pots when I borrowed Brents.

Cheers, Dave.

I think they come with the basic pc sync cord, if not I ca sell you one cheap enough anyway, either way its more than the PW's come with. I don't want to be the one to sell them to you though, read a few reviews and look at their site, I am still a baby with all this stuff myself. From what I can tell they do everything a PW can do, don't have quite the same range but its certainly enough for most people... Looks like we do have a few interested, 3 - 4 I think so the shipping should be eased, but we may get stung GST. I am super keen to get them in transit so want to order as soon as I hear back from them really, probably tomorrow morning or tomorrow night, do some reading and let me know :) They do seem like a great option to me however.

Reading their product manual it looks like the battery powered receiver comes with a cable out of it to plug into the mini-jack socket on a studio flash, but I see no listing of a cable which is from the receiver to a sync socket on the side of a Speedlight.

Whichever flash triggers I pick up, I'm likely to be swapping my 580 for a 580II shortly after so just want to let the receiver plug straight into the side of the 580II. ?!

Cheers, Dave.

Core router decided it had been on for too many months...but fixing the internet just means employees can go back to facebook and tarders

Do you still have that pro custom off camera flash cord you built?

Nice photo. The only thing that "bugs" me is the lower right part where you can see skin rather than black... but that's just me...

I have pc sync to mini jack cords in stock, 30cm ones so there isn't a whole lot of cable dangling, I heard these came with them, no matter as the cables are cheap enough not to be a factor really.

So what we looking at for a transmitter and three receivers, once you've split up the postage stuff?

Yerp, currently running a proxy + DG but I don't block anything except the default word filter/file types. Ive never really cared for what the users do, they can get themselves fired  so long as they arnt downloading virus's (which DG blocks well enough, all exe's etc).

I like to think giving them freedom is being equal, its what id want but if you abuse it thats another story. I guess its very different being in a school enviroment to a corporate one id certainly be blocking left right and centre.

Yes.

Wernt you selling it? Or could I borrow it if possiblies. Sigh I *was* looking for a cruisy afternoon drive, a chat with old dave and tim and some nice portraits but that went out the window somewhat. If you cannot trust Cisco...who can you trust
