I think Mr Shrimper has joined the gang that are 'blacking out' all avatars, images and the like on all their profiles in protest against the new law that's coming in to effect in NZ soon, whereby all torrenting is deamed as piracy and copyright infringment without question or trial, and they ISP just switches your connection off.
Or at least that's how it was explained to me...
I fully realise that torrenting is used extensively for pirating software etc, but it is by no means its only use, and assuming by default you're breaking the law without asking and switching you off, is I think, a very nasty state of affairs, if not in terms of morality, then in terms of implications. No-one yet though has explained to me how switching everything black actually makes a difference...
