There's a phrase my car forum would utter now, but I'd get thrown out for using it, so I'll just settle for 'you cruel b*****ds!'

Whereas I'm quite glad I was wearing a hoody to try and hide my own barrel belly! ;)

The prices on lenses aren't going up. Just DSLR's.

To the best of my knowledge, which is based upon daily conversations with the boss who obviously makes his wedge working around stuff like price rises etc, and also with talking to the rep each week, there is no price rises coming in on anything except DSLRs.

The lenses alone went up Dec 1st, and I do expect them to go up again, but there's been no notification of that to our store. That being said with the knowledge that we're on their premiere partner scheme and bloody well should be getting told if it's happening. Nothing else went up Dec 1st, just lenses.

Seeing as it's the DSLR's that go up in a few days, it would be fair to assume the other smaller cameras would too, but a good part of the range is being replaced soon, so I wonder if it will just be swallowed up by new prices/new models. Again though, just speculation there.

The way the bodies work is regardless of when you ordered it, even if it was months ago, the price you pay is based on when it was delivered. Ergo, after March = more cash. IF lenses go up again, I expect the same principle to apply. So whilst there's no word on rises, and I think the shop you're dealing with is shining you on a bit, it won't hurt to get the order in and take delivery asap, because if you wait, they go out of stock again and don't get anymore for a few months, you could get stung if there is a lens price increase.

Cheers, Dave.

Interesting because we've been told by more than one store that if they have ordered the lenses before the price rise, we can get them at the old price. Maybe that's just individual shop policy though. I would expect to be able to trust progear and they've told us the lens prices are going up, although there are one or two there who seem a bit lost

I'll double check for you tomorrow if you like, but like I said, as far as I'm aware it's bodies only at this point. (Well, and body/lens kits). DSLR's basically.

Cheers, Dave.

Looking for something a little lighter to carry around, so you don't have to sit down during a shoot:

Keep em coming then! ;)

I've basically done the shots from shoot #1 in Chch. A lot more photos to give to the model and MUA than normal, but I still don't know how the Momentz gang for instance churn out edited photos from so many shoot so quickly. it's either the different style of the photos, or I'm shyte and they're not.

Once the model/MUA have had their email with the images, I'll stick a few up on here for some feedback. :)

Cheers, Dave.
