If she can afford either, than take the Aston.

The other one is just a computer on wheels, and a Nissan.

As long as the computer goes faster ;) which iirc it does? iirc it also beats a 911 Turbo (which I never found that amazing to drive anyway).

With all the 'gadgets' on doesn't it have the fastest launch time or something crazy or am I thinking of something else Japanese that hasn't come out yet and had that berserk fastest ever quarter mile time and didn't cost the earth.

Of course its fast, clearly one of the fastesr production cars ever made.

It is now possible to design and build a car with so many computer aids it can travel faster than a person can keep up. A computer can make many more calculations per second than a human brain. There is a very good reason the driver aids in F1 are so limited. No ABS, no stablity control, no active suspension etc. The cars would be so fast there is a risk of drivers blacking out from the G forces, and ablity for a car you are following to change speed and direction faster than you can allow for.

There is also the matter of the person no longer driving the car.
I have tried to spin out in a Lexus with all the gadgets turned on, and couldn't. The dash just beeped at me, and the brakes came on, and slowed the car down to more civilised speed for the corner, and the traction control then came on and drove the car out in an equally civilsed manner, all while I had my foot flat to the floor and was swinging away crazily on the steering wheel.
I indicated a direction I would like to head in, and the computer did the rest. I was no longer driving the car, and was merely there to make suggestions as to the direction of travel.

This is really great in a Mercedes A class being driven to bowles by your grandmother, but completely misses the point in an exotic super car, or any sports car for that matter.

So long and thanks for all the flash

Entirely agreed but at least the GTR has the race mode selections etc where you get some slip and control over what the computer is doing ...so not a bad trade off for the insane speed at the price. So long as you can disable and enable most modes to an almost 'off' state im happy but as you say it gets silly in such things like a Lexus (never driven one).

And yes I follow Formula 1 religiously, blacking out/inability to pass/the money game becomes an issue and ruins it for all involved :(

I wouldn't hesitate to guess the Austin has almost the same amount of electronic enforcement as the GTR with less ability for the user to edit these functions (not in the launch control sense but the traction control sense). Not to mention the Jap mod heads will have replaced half the chips with user programmable options in the GTR by now for whateveryougoddamliekcontrolandcareditingmadness.

Quite. I tried putting that ball into motion last week but it all came tumbling down a bit. Brent emailed me briefly over the weekend and he's on track with sorting something. He's away til Tues though.

Why the 2 sets of front wheels?

From the era where design in F1 cars encouraged a lot of lateral thinking, so you got all sorts of strange and wonderful ideas going on. Dunno the actual reason, but it may have been something as simple as marketing, or something technical such as the front tyre width being limited, but no regs stating how many, therefore create more grip that way. Was a good era for F1 design I think...

Cheers, Dave.

Here you go: http://www.project34.co.uk/ (external link)

I think the idea was to reduce drag and improve front grip.

No, 2005 at Silverstone.

An attempt to give the car more grip and less drag. I think it won one GP, but due to the tyre maker not being keen to develop a special tire for just one car, it got slower and eventually the rules were changed to ban more than 4 wheel cars.
