Yeah kinda. I guess work speaks volumes, and having done some opens doors, but you gotta remember it wasn't so long ago it was all an uphill battle whilst starting out.

I still don't understand exactly how someone gets invited.

I believe invites where sent to people the person running the course could find on model mayhem, starnow, through agencies, searching the web, through contacts etc.

It is a paid half day workshop, no reason you can't email the person running it (at the link Mat provided) and ask if you can come along.

However, there is as much and more information available in these forums, and it costs a lot less :)

Thanks for the answer Moppie. Was just curious as to how people get 'invited' to a paid workshop.

Go to a material shop and get some patterned material.
To get extra width you can sew 2 lengths together.

If you want it only for portrait than one piece about 1 1/2 metres long should be enough.

Hang it from your BG stand or pin / tape it to your wall.

Yeah I might have a look around.. I'm interested in it for boudoir photos - I've got some friends who want photos done, so they're my guinea pigs ... patterned is probably better than boring grey :)

A bunch of Canon bits and pieces.

$132 for an 80gb external (2.5" I'm assuming) seems rather steep to me. Where were you planing on getting that from?

I'm getting the 2.5" HD from a computer shop in Manukau. Probably expensive due to it being IDE/ATA rather than the newer SATAs... Not sure whether my PSD will take the newer ones since it is at least 4 years old... Ironically, I could buy a 2.5" 320gb external hard drive for a few bucks more but that won't be a PSD...!

John;)

Believe... Work hard... and it will happen!

Just wondering whether I should buy a new 80gb hard drive (max capacity) for my portable storage device at $132 or buy a Sandisk Extreme III 8gb CF at $123... I already have 8 gigs of CF cards...

How often do you run out of CF space? I have 6Gb of CF, and can't remember the last time I ran out.....probably years ago when I used to shoot hundreds of shots of anything and everything, and worry about if they were any good later.

Thanks for the answer Moppie. Was just curious as to how people get 'invited' to a paid workshop.

I was sent a PM via flickr for the same event, so it's not THAT exclusive :)

Advice please - is anyone up with the play on current point and shoots? I'm flip flopping between several models… I'm after image quality, creative control and fairly compact (i.e. rules out G10, too chunky). Panasonic LX3 would be nice, but looks like it's outta stock everywhere.
Any suggestions? Canon SX200?

No no no no no, I'm not the numpty that got nailed above the eye... I was standing further up the road on the inside of the corner. If you can see the brief youtube clip (on the blog) I'm the one in blue at the start of the clip. This guy was opposite where the RWD cars were kicking the tail out to set up for the right hander...

Got Em!!!!
There is a secret points system awarded to drivers for stoning photographers and spectators who stand in stupid places.
I believe that gets bonus points for drawing blood.
