Tried another pano from up the top of the hill this morning... I think I'm trying to cover too wide an area, the result is too thin to work online.

I often found the same thing, very wide, very thin panoramics to show for the effort. Unless they're massive and on a wall I don't think it works. I've been wondering if it's not just better to try and isolate a particular section from the scene. Cheers, Dave.

Don't worry about image being "thin" that's just a result of having to squeese it into 1024px for this forum - remember bigger is usually better... some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

The only day of the year that is MY day in front of the TV. We had loads of coverage yesterday and it started at 6am this morning.

Not if you look at the scene and think "I need 'X' in terms of height and 'Y' in terms of width. You just adjust your lenses and number of shots to suit. FWIW, I shoot all my panoramics in portrait, the head dictates it, but surely if I were to shoot them landscape I wouldn't just go 'Oh I'm gonna lose all my sky, oh well'? I'd zoom out a bit and end up with the same amount of stuff in the picture, just arrive at it with less pixels. Cheers, Dave.
