$1000? Good luck with that. Historically a used copy of the old model tracks pretty close to 50-60% of a new copy of the current model. You'll be waiting a while for the 5D to hit $1000 since the 5DII would have to be around $1700-$2000.

i guess we shall see!

you dont see 70-200 f2.8 IS going for $1200 new do you? well thats how much mine cost brand spanking new. so personally i dont care about what "facts" are out there. good deals are out there esp on this forum where people let go of their stuff for rather cheap sometimes and good deals are always there if you are patient and look for them and also be at the right place at the right time. just gotta keep hitting that refresh button every now and then! thats just my experience.

thankfully my current 5d is still good. juts waiting to get a second body so im in no rush

but yea you generally dont see prices such as a mkI for $1k

I have been waiting for this release to see if it was going to be a 5D or a 5D ii. I am still waiting for the reviews and the shots before making a firm decision. Being in Japan, I will be allowed to play with it pretty soon.

It is an upgrade over the 5D, not by much. But the pricing isn't much more than a new 5D either.

Thats my current position at the moment. I have to justify the extra $$ for those extra features.

I at least hope the price falls in the "married guy w/ two kids" bracket, LOL

With the 5D1's price falling to around 1600E/$ it will be a hard to beat picture taking machine. I think that's a fair price that would easily keep it on the market. And I have a feeling it won't be discontinued. It will be on the shelves just like the 30D after the 40D or the 350/400D after 400/450D.
Either way, I wouldn't expect it's price to fall dramatically to 800-1000 anytime soon, like some predict.
