My 1st MotoGP @ Indy......

Yea I know it was everyones first but it's the catchiest title I could come up with.

This was actually my 2nd GP, the first being the return of the GP's in the USA, back in 2005 at Laguna Seca. I made the mistake of bringing my 35MM (I was out of the camera scene for many yrs) and quickly became very jealous in all the fancy shmancy DSLR users being able to look at their images immediately so I upgraded soon after that trip.

I have limited motorsport or really any form of 'action' photography but Im eager to learn everything needed to improve my keeper rate and make well composed shots that sell so anyone having any advice/opinions for me please dont hold back and let me have it.....I can take it!

Im still in the middle of sorting thru my images, Ive picked a few of my favorites to share. All images were taken from spectator areas, unfortunately many were through the dreaded fence at various corners.

I dont think I walked that much since Laguna...

Good stuff. 2 and 3 are particularly interesting to me.

Good call using the Exposure Comp... many times shooting in the "stormy" lighting on Automatic produces underexposed images. By adding a 1/3 with the comp you mitigated that by a ton.

2 & 6 are great. The vertical lines in 6 are distracting though... were you behind a fence?

Yes I was. I suppose if I was right behind it it wouldnt have been so bad but they have it roped off approximately 15-20' away from the fencing making it much more difficult to shoot.

Very nice. I like the variety of shots, not so much the same angles, same crop and same type of picture with every bike that comes by. Good job.

I remove the image tags from the last post. the Image Posting Rules only allow for 8 images to be embedded.

Nice pictures. It certainly was a challenge to shoot thru the fences.

I like the reflection in #6.

Great images well done, good variety of shots. Like the Rossi shot the best. Tip: when shooting through a fence shoot wide open, if you want slow shutter speeds lower your ISO (you have ISO50 on a MKIII:cool

Setaline Torch would be better

I didn't pick up on the reflections, I agree looks good although the Stoner shot is near enough mirrored
