What can be used to act as a light blocker? Any DIY materials?

Thanks

Perhaps you could be a little more vague;);). What is it that you want to accomplish. Go walk around a hardware or department store. It is amazing what can give you inspiration.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I think the list would be shorter if you asked what can't be used as a light blocker. ;)

Any material that blocks light could be used. I've even used a voice activated Gobo on occasion.

I like pieces of black foamcore, but I've improvised with everything from seat cushions to my hand...

My light stand can also act as a gobo. Stu is his name. Same idea as Dave :)

We carry several pieces of black cardboard in our light kits that have several 1" wide slits cut in them. When placed in front of a light, you get a very nice "venetian blind" look.

The best material we've found for making quick gobo's is called "black wrap". It's a heavy duty matte black tinfoil sold in photography stores.
