What would you think If a 1d Mark IV shows up with a 40MP?

I would think: "My god, now i have to use f5.6 or larger..."

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

My computer would cry out in pain just before imploding.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

I say Sure why not as long as it offers the best image quality not just a bunch of megapixels

I said this years ago and was proved right, the 1DSMKII had more megapixels then Canon range of lenses could handle. I said they would need a whole bunch of new L series lenses to cope with that kind of pixel count. Then they start releasing new versions of old lenses, any more megapixels and they will have to re make all them lenses again.

^^ Yeah, 40MP in a 35mm sensor would make me question *any* lenses ability to not be the limiting factor in the system. Aren't we approaching the maximum resolving power of glass already?

I'm not high enough on the ladder to handle a 40MP image. 21 is already a bit high for me.

Presumably the 1DsMkIV would remain a 35mm sensor. The Hassy H3Dii-50 is a medium-format, and its pixel density is about the same as the A900. A 40mp 35mm sensor would be more demanding of a system's glass than than the H3, or the Leaf Aptus-II, or the Phase One P65+ (60mp), etc etc etc.

I used to shoot all my Weddings using my 1DSMKII but found the file sizes far to big.
Thats why I use the 1DMKIII all the time now, I find the 10mp is perfect for Weddings.
The 1DSMKII just sits in my bag, it's just too high a MP for most work I do.
