Oh my god, drool drool drool...

I knew live view was gonna be great but an HD MOVIE MODE? (even if its just 12mins)

plus it hit me.... can you just imagine the bokeh on the videos because (duh!?!) on an DSLR we can actually change lenses unlike the P and S movies were used to!

more drool......

found this link on another thread here... (forgot which , sorry)

If anything, those sample movies look alot better than whatever Nikon had on their site.

yeah those videos look stunning, while the Nikon D90 videos are more "meh... That's cool"

This wasn't a deciding factor for me, but I'm excited to try it out

The reason I'm drooling is actually quite specific (since some people apparently hate the feature)... I've been shooting my son's tae kwon do classes with my 5D and i wouldn't mind having some full motion shots of him doing some of the moves. (he just turned 5 so he's so totally cute in my eyes :) )

My 70-200 2.8 IS is actually being shipped to me as i type this. (got one for the same reason) I can just imagine what short movies it could film if i owned a 5D mkII.

sweet BOKEH.... sweet MOVING bokeh! :)

As you can tell i'm a bokeh fanatic!

Same here, I could take it or leave it, but it looks like it could be interesting...

ummm, anyone ever hear of the "rolling shutter" effect? the D90 is heavily effected by it and so will the 5D Mark II; there's no question about it.

it generates a "jelly" distortion when panning even slightly (fluidly or not), unless it is done in an incredibly slow and balanced fashion.

-1 for movie mode, in my book. what a waste of hardware.

I saw that effect in some of the D90 preview videos, but none of the 5d MkII videos that I saw showed any panning. Are there any examples of this?

Also, the 85L video looks great! ;)

Phil Askey said on dpreview (forums) that the only way to show the jelly effect is if you move it very quickly. Otherwise, it's not as noticeable as it is on the D90.

I noticed the jelly effect on the D90 videos at youtube size. I watched a full 1080 res from the 5DII and didn't catch any jelliness.

the D90 panning is terrible, yes, but it looks liek the 5D2 will blow it out of the water with these vids. Just the quality looks so much better, motion looks so much better..

I guess that's what you get when you have a manufacturer that already makes great digital video cameras.. with some of the best 3rd generation AVCHD formats out there. HF11 FTW? 5D2 FTW!

Looks good to me, but what really blows me away is the video with the tilt-shift lens. I think I'm getting sold on this video thing real quick. I'd still like to see more though, like some zooming and focusing while filming (if feels strange saying that about a Canon DSLR) and some shots with some of the super-tele's would be cool to see to.

well, maybe some slight speculation.

i'd rather see some footage in the hands of an actual user rather than babied footage intended to sell this gimmick.

i think this is the end of what we once called, dSLRs...
