Here are a few shots from the Fun Fly that I attended that the big helicopter shot were also taken at. I used 2 bodies most of the day, one for the distant shots and one for the take off / landing or flypast zone. Generally the combination was the newly acquired 1Dsmkll and a 100-400 L and a 1Dmklln with a 70-200 f2.8 L IS. I reversed the lenses for a few shots but liked the setup as listed. It was my first use for the 1Dsmkll and I had just bought a week before. All in all I'm hooked on it and the idea of a 1Dsmklll has entered my mind for next year.
The full album (which I do for the clubs involved and may be a bit lengthy to some) is here.

Very good set. Nice colors, especially.

Thank you. It wasn't the best of days but the sun came out mid afternoon for a while which really improved the colours, plus the sky made a much nicer background. Better yet was the orientation of the flight area to the spectator zone, placing the sun behind me at a very nice angle.

I wonder why we don't see more 3 and 4 bladed props on thesed planes? Is it a money thing? preformance? A 4 blade prop would look super cool in photos.

I can't give a fact based answer but since the majority of these planes were hand started my guess would relate to the dangers of more blades. One participant of the event did get attacked by his prop which nearly cut the tip off of his finger (that's what I was told when I asked as he was loaded onto the ambulance) He was elderly, and the club bandaged him up, but shock & other considerations dictated having him get proper help. He himself was in very good spirits, and I'm sure isn't done enjoying the hobby.

i have flown RC for yrs, airplanes and heli plus im a pilot on both so maybe i can answer the question.
the more props it has increases the torque lowers the engine rpm but decreases airspeed.
alot of the older looking " historical " airplanes do carry 3 and 4 blade props. most of them these days are made of carbon fiber so cost does play an effect. some of the 2 blade props have a 15 deg inside and 10deg outside pitch so you get the same effect of low end torque and high rpm airspeed. really just depends on what you want the airplane to do. go fast or have lots of pull " torque "

Nice. If you hadn't said RC in the title some could nearly pass off as full size aircraft.
