Hello guys, its me again, with a question about the canon 580exII, hope you can help me :).

Everytime I use this flash OFFCAMERA, its a pain the a... because I put it on a tripood, while shooting a wedding, and if I stop shooting for a couple of minutes it goes to STAND BY mode, and there is no way I can turn it back on, so I need to go to the tripood, and turn it off then on so it can work again.

When I use my other nikon flash, I just need to press the test button on my pocket wizard so I can turn it on, but with the canon is impossible, someone knows a way to doit?

thanks

Isn't there a way to disable standby mode? One way I can think of doing this is by mounting the flash on a hotshoe and setting C.Fn Standby mode to disable from the camera. Not sure if it can be done on the flash directly, you may need to read the manual for that.

by changing the standby settings??

custom function #01 - set this to disable and it won't shut off...

if you want to do it through the flash itself do this:

press and hold the */C.Fn button
with the wheel thing find Fn 01
press sel/set
set this to 1
press sel/set...

anyone else have a better idea?
