Help with B&W conversion

Hey all, I really like this picture in black and white but i'm not sure what steps to take to make it really stand out in black and white. I only applied the basic Photoshop b&w converter on this....

I'm no expert on the subject, but I figured I would give it a shot. I just used PS CS3, the B&W tool.

Here's my attempt - Alien Skin 'Exposure 2' plugin for CS3, Kodak Plus-X 125 setting and a curves adjustment to give it a bit of 'punch'

If you have PS you can download a filter program from Tiffin. Its free for 30 days and $99 afterwards but its got every conceivable filter you can think of and they do wonders to your photos.
I like it for my B&W conversion because you can sample all 6 colored B&W filters.
