Most people in this forum are pros or pro-amateurs who are interested in cutting edge features (6-7 shots per minute) and more and more megapixels.

Well I am just an amateur and the most valuable feature I am waiting for is an armature Full Frame camera that will accept my existing range of EOS lenses. I have been waiting for a ff reasonable priced Canon camera for 3-4 years now- in vain

There were rumors about 7D or 6D that will match the Nikon D700, but it seems that the fuss around the new 5DII dimmed those discussions.
I will have to wait then.

So get a lightly used 5D1...

I'm sure there will be one or two available in the relatively near future. ;)

I'm hoping to get a 5D mkI in a couple of months (new of second hand) as it's still a wonderful bit of kit. As a landscaper I don't need super high iso, and the test images I've seen on the MKII don't look anything special at all. What I want is a good quality image & reliability.

i think there are more amateurs here than pros or pro-ams... not that it matters so much but, it does not seem this way to me

Do you just want your lenses to have the same field of view as on full frame? All the EOS cameras will accept EF lenses, they just will not all accept EF-S lenses... maybe thats not what you meant, if not - no worries - i want a full frame camera too and will probably do as suggested earlier - pick up a 5Dmk1 at first possible opportunity.
